2010 FTP CODE & AMENDMENTS TO SOLAS II-2/3.23

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) adopted the

International Code for the Application of Fire Test Procedures, 2010

(2010 FTP Code) and amendments to SOLAS regulation II-2/3.23


THE REVISED CODE
The amended Code which has been adopted through MSC.307(88) on December 3rd, 2010 includes the following changes:
 All relevant resolutions and circulars on fire test procedures have been added in the Code.
 Part 5 regarding the test for surface flammability (test for surface materials and primary deck covering) has been re-written to include previous Part 6 and Resolutions A.653(16) & A.687(17). As a consequence Part 6 is intentionally left blank to maintain numbering of the previous Code.

 New Parts 10 & 11 regarding the test for fire-restricting materials for high speed craft and test for fireresisting
divisions for high speed craft respectively have been adopted.
 Expiry period for fire test certificates is now 15 years.
 The test report format has been revised and includes 7 new additional items.


THE AMENDED DEFINITION

As a consequence to the to the adopted 2010 FTP Code, the IMO has amended SOLAS regulation II-2/3.23 through
MSC.308(88). The amended definition contains the revised Code.


DATE IN FORCE

These amendments come into force on July 1st, 2012.
