The International Maritime Organization (IMO) adopted the
International Code for the Application of Fire Test Procedures, 2010
(2010 FTP Code) and amendments to SOLAS regulation II-2/3.23
The amended Code which has been adopted through MSC.307(88) on December 3rd, 2010 includes the following changes:
All relevant resolutions and circulars on fire test procedures have been added in the Code.
Part 5 regarding the test for surface flammability (test for surface materials and primary deck covering) has been re-written to include previous Part 6 and Resolutions A.653(16) & A.687(17). As a consequence Part 6 is intentionally left blank to maintain numbering of the previous Code.
New Parts 10 & 11 regarding the test for fire-restricting materials for high speed craft and test for fireresisting
divisions for high speed craft respectively have been adopted.
Expiry period for fire test certificates is now 15 years.
The test report format has been revised and includes 7 new additional items.
THE AMENDED DEFINITIONAs a consequence to the to the adopted 2010 FTP Code, the IMO has amended SOLAS regulation II-2/3.23 through
MSC.308(88). The amended definition contains the revised Code.
