The Sierra Leone International Ship Registry has published new dry dock extension requirements for all vessels registered under the Administration.

THE DRY DOCK REQUIREMENTS
Through Circular No. 12-003 , the Sierra Leone Flag Registry has informed interest parties regarding the
revised dry dock extension requirements. The new requirements include the following:

UCIL to inaugurate new mine and processing plant in AP


Uranium Corporation of India's new 3,000 tonne per day uranium mine & and processing plant will be inaugurated at Tummalapalle in Andhra Pradesh on Friday by Dr Srikumar Banerjee, secretary, department of atomic energy & chairman Atomic Energy Commission.

With confirmed reserves of over 49,000 tonnes of uranium and indications of much larger reserves in the area, Tummalapalle could become one of the world's largest uranium deposits.

In order to further improve the safety of pilot transfer, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has adopted amendments to SOLAS regulation V/23 coming in force on July 1st, 2012.

THE REVISED REGULATION

Through MSC.308(88) adopted on December 3rd, 2010, amendments to SOLAS regulation V/23 have been

implemented. More specifically, pilot ladders on all ships (new and existing) must be clearly identified in order to

1 The following information is provided to enable compliance with Regulation 37 of
MARPOL Annex I which, inter alia, requires that shipboard pollution emergency plans for oil
(SOPEP) shall contain a list of authorities or persons to be contacted in the event of a pollution
incident involving such substances. Requirements for oil pollution emergency plans and relevant
oil pollution reporting procedures are contained in Articles 3 and 4 of the 1990 OPRC Convention.
