SIERRA LEONE DRY DOCK EXTENSION REQUIREMENTS
The Sierra Leone International Ship Registry has published new dry dock extension requirements for all vessels registered under the Administration.THE DRY DOCK REQUIREMENTS
Through Circular No. 12-003 , the Sierra Leone Flag Registry has informed interest parties regarding the
revised dry dock extension requirements. The new requirements include the following:
Dry dock extensions will be issued only by the Sierra Leone Flag Administration on exceptional cases and an“Authorization for the Extension of Dry Dock” will be provided stamped signed and with hologram.
The Administration will accept requests for dry dock extension as follow:
- For vessels already registered under Sierra Leone Flag the request shall come only by the Recognized
Organization (RO); and
- For vessels in the process to apply to Sierra Leone for registration the request may be accepted from the RO, Regional Registrar or the Registration Officer.
Ship Owner’s requesting a dry dock extension for vessels flying the Sierra Leone Flag shall follow the procedure outlined in paragraph 6.1 of attached Circular.
A second and/or third extension is usually not considered by the Administration and this will only be
granted in unavoidable circumstances.
ACT NOWShip Owners shall make every effort to avoid dry dock extensions. DBS Head Office will also review each request
individually prior requesting any dry dock extension to the Administration.
Additionally, ship Owners and/or Managers shall consult the ship survey status in order to be timely informed for the due dry dock surveys.
DATE IN FORCE & APPLICABILITY
The Circular takes immediate effect and is applicable to all vessels flying the Sierra Leone Flag.
